Ginger Root is known as the universal medicine in Ayurveda. It aids digestion and, and is one of the best herbs for nausea. It relieves spasms and menstrual cramps, and promotes menstruation. Ginger helps to regulate blood sugar both by stimulating pancreas cells and by lowering lipids (cholesterol, triglycerides) in the blood. Historically, it was one of the most respected herbs for joint health, especially for aging joints. It has relatively high calcium and iron content. Ginger increases peripheral circulation, so is used clinically for cold hands and feet. Being diaphoretic, it treats some symptoms by promoting sweating.
Ginger is known for its health benefits as it can help prevent cancer because of the chemical properties that make up the plant and root. It is noted medicinally in modern and ancient cultures as being a very healthy and positive additive to your diet.
Uses of Ginger for Health:
• Car Sickness – If you are prone to having car sickness, air sickness, or are planning on taking a cruise, bring along tablets of ginger which will settle the stomach and relieve the symptoms. In general, if you have an upset stomach take a ginger tablet or drink real ginger ale; it is proven to be most effective in treating this ailment. Another thing to note is if your diet is prone to cause you indigestion from possibly drinking too many cups of coffee or sodas, drink a cup of ginger tea a day to promote a healthy digestive system.
• Balancing the body systems – In India they practice a form of medicine known as Avurvedic; it prescribes ginger as a key ingredient to put in foods or drink as a tea to keep the body system regulated. It is recommended to help treat and reduce the symptoms of a cold. It works by, as those who practice this Indian medicine, to balance the energy in your body looking for changes in your systems such as hot and cold. If the ginger finds something that is out of the normal range it will help to balance it. It is further noted that mixing honey, lemon and ginger together is one of the healthiest drinks your body can utilize. Honey is said to be a natural antibiotic and has been used for thousands of years in this aspect. Please note, however, young children should not be given honey; there are risk factors that a young body cannot be subject to until their immune system is working at full capacity.

Health Care Basics of Mexico
The current healthcare system in Mexico is a pluralistic health care system which is a combination of public and private programs. The country spends 6.6% of its GDP on health that provides only health insurance to 40% of the population.
People who plan on moving to Mexico are very lucky since health care in this middle-class country is never a problem. Generally, the health care in Mexico is really excellent, and in most places, is positively exceptional. Most of the health care practitioners in Mexico, like the doctors and the dentists are trained in western countries like the United States. And consequently, there are also some American doctors that have their trainings in Mexico, most particularly in Guadalajara.
Mid-sized and large cities in Mexico have one first-rate hospital at least. What is good about health care in Mexico is that the costs are generally lower than one might expect to pay in the US. The same thing also applies for those prescription drugs. Those prescription drugs that are manufactured in Mexico are about fifty percent less on the average, compared with similar drugs manufactured in the United States.
Aside from affordable costs of services and prescription drugs, larger centers in Mexico offer first class restaurants plus full ranges of health care. In fact, a lot of Northern Americans travel in Mexico for some simple dental work or minor surgeries since rates are considerably more affordable. Pharmaceuticals are also widely available at prices relatively lower than those in Canada or in the United States.

Fundación Alma, a non-profit NGO, uses a train as a makeshift doctor’s office to treat children in poor villages of Argentina.
Mónica Carrizo, a volunteer radiologist doubling as a clown, entertains dozens of children who visit the Alma Train for free medical treatment. Known as a “payamédica,” or clown doctor, Mónica keeps the children coming for doctor’s visits entertained. Children are seen by dozens of medical volunteers who work from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. for seven months out of the year.
Volunteer biochemist tends to the children who showed up to the train for treatment. The medical workers give each child/patient a check-up, lab work, dental work and X-rays during his or her visit.
Volunteer pediatricians help children who sometimes show up first thing in the morning. “Some of them took many hours to arrive because they come walking,” one volunteer said.
The train has three wagons but no traction; it’s pulled by a cargo train. In one wagon they have a laboratory, X-Ray Equipment, a nursery and a basic-care room. Another has a cabin and meeting rooms, while the third has a kitchen and maintenance shop.
Since it was created in 1976, the Alma Train has made 176 overnight trips and assisted more than 80,000 children. For complex diseases, the patients are transferred to regional hospitals, and all their expenses are paid by the foundation.
Families show up early in the morning with five or six children in tow, some of whom are seeing a doctor for the first time. “Children are very grateful and they give us what they have: an old toy, home-made bread or a drawing,” one volunteer said.
clinical testing, destroys prostate cancer, doctors in London, Dr. Hashim Ahmed, High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU), high-powered beam, Lancet Oncology, MRI scan, No side effects, Prostate Cancer Treatment, Reduces Side Effects, ultrasound, University College London Hospital
Results of a London study shows that prostate cancer can be destroyed by a high-intensity ultrasound beam without causing any serious side effects characteristic of other treatments.
The clinical testing was done in London and in Basingstoke in southeastern England. Researchers discovered that it is possible to wipe out tumor cells without doing any damage to the fragile tissues surrounding the affected area.
The usual prostate cancer treatment methods, which are radiotherapy and conventional surgery, cause some serious side effects for patients. Many of those who have undergone these treatment methods have become impotent and some had become incontinent.
In fact, the side effects are so prevalent that a lot of men that have slow growing tumors are often advised not to undergo such treatment methods anymore.
This can change with the recent scientific discovery in England.
During the clinical trial, doctors used the procedure called High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) to obliterate the tumors.
Results of the test show that of the 41 men who went through the new procedure, none of them had incontinence while only 10% had impotence. The test results were revealed in a Lancet Oncology journal report.
Dr. Hashim Ahmed of the University College London Hospital said that the results are very encouraging. He said that that his team is very optimistic that men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer may be able to go through a day-case surgical procedure in the near future. He also added that such procedure can be repeated safely once or twice, to treat their illness with only a few side effects. Dr. Ahmed said that it could mean a considerable improvement in the quality of life of prostate cancer patients.
The doctors first used high-resolution MRI scans of the prostates of the patients to map the exact place of the tumors. Once they have mapped the precise location, HIFU machines are then used to focus ultrasound waves in an area about the size of a grain of rice.
The high intensity ultrasound beams from the HIFU machine heat up the cells, killing them without damaging the surrounding tissues.
Mexico may not be the first place one would consider for plastic surgery, but as an up-and-coming medical tourism destination, it might be worth considering.
The cost of plastic surgery in the US is practically unaffordable, which inspires patients to seek alternative options across the border. Plastic surgery in Mexico is a smart option because it’s close, safe, and has some of the lowest prices in the Western Hemisphere.
As the medical tourism industry grows in Mexico, health care standards have been set very high, which means JCI Accredited hospitals and board-certified plastic surgeons.
The only catch is that the patients have to do their research beforehand, as it is the only way to have a safe and satisfying experience.

Some skin lotions and antiseptic soaps claim to clean and lighten skin while removing freckles and wrinkles. Instead, these illegally imported cosmetic products make consumers ill from exposure to high levels of mercury.
The U.S. Government is warning consumers about these products after dozens of people in at least seven states were diagnosed with mercury poisoning. Victims include a woman in California who was hospitalized after using an unlabeled skin lotion for three years. Several members of her family also had high levels of mercury in their bodies, even though they didn’t use the lotion.
People who buy these products are not putting only their own health at risk, small children can also be exposed to mercury by breathing in the vapors of a skin lotion or by touching someone who has used the cream and then putting their fingers in their mouth.
How to Avoid These Products
The FDA prohibits the use of mercury in skin lotions and cosmetic soaps manufactured abroad. To avoid skin lightening and anti-aging products tainted with mercury, stay away from products that:

April is National Autism Awareness Month, and it’s been marked by a steady stream of research about the causes of the disorder.
Pregnant women now have one more reason to watch their diet and exercise.
A new study shows the obesity epidemic may be contributing to the rising number of children diagnosed with autism.
The study released Monday in the journal Pediatrics shows that compared to non-obese mothers those who were obese before pregnancy had a 60-percent increase in the likelihood of having a child with autism.
The average risk of birthing an autistic child is approximately one in 88, but this risk increased to one in 53 for obese mothers.
The reason is unclear, but researchers believe excess blood sugar and inflammation-related substances in the mothers blood maybe to blame.
Based on the results, the researchers suggest increasing obesity rates in the United States could be playing a role in the rapidly increasing rate of autism.
However, scientists say more research is needed to confirm the results, which only indicate a correlation between obesity and autism, and not causation.
Outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) are important economic events, distorting trade patterns world-wide. The effects of FMD (for example, trade bans, productivity losses, and inventory depopulation) can be extremely detrimental to a country, threatening food supplies, security, and safety.
In 1946, México suffered an FMD outbreak that lasted for 7 years and resulted in large losses in inventory with costs estimated over $250 million.
FMD affects all stages in the cattle production: breeding, feeding and marketing. Hence, it is important to understand the particular characteristics of the Mexican cattle industry to be able to model each stage and obtain an accurate analysis of the effects of FMD on the Mexican cattle industry. Production in the Mexican cattle industry can be divided into two stages: breeding and feeding.
More recently, an FMD outbreak in the United Kingdom (UK) in 2001 caused losses of between $3.6 to $11.6 billion, with around 4 million animals being slaughtered. Losses from FMD outbreaks are not exclusive to producers. Consumers can also be affected through market responses, and tourism can suffer because of travelling restrictions.
An important outcome of the current research is to uncover country specific
observations for México. Because only limited research exists for livestock in México, a better understanding of economic consequences of FMD is needed and necessary to prescribe effective policy recommendations for industry and policy makers.
“Analyzing Mexico for the FMD outbreak was interesting because most of the countries that have been analyzed are much more dependent upon export,” Nogueira said. “In those countries, if you declare that you have FMD, the borders are closed and surrounding countries will not import anything.”
